Maintain your lean body weight during cancer treatment! Exercise and maintaining your weight during cancer treatment will result in a better quality of life and may help you live longer, or even achieve cure. Eating healthy and taking appetite stimulants like Megace or Marinol may be a start, but gaining fat will not give you the edge.
The trick is to maintain your lean body weight. Supplementation with fish oil or EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid) helps alter the abnormal metabolism caused by cancer and may help you with this. The recommended dose is 3000mg/day of a combination of EPA and DHA, which are the two constituents of fish oil. Going higher may cause bleeding. Consult your doctor before taking, to ensure safety, especially if you are on other medications, undergoing chemotherapy, or awaiting surgery.
