Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Movie PDF Print E-mail

This is a good example of a minimally invasive, otherwise known as "laparoscopic" hysterectomy, from our colleagues in France. It is about 15 minutes long...

This gives the average patient a very good idea of what happens to your body while you are asleep and having one of these surgeries done.  A movie tells a thousand words. Enjoy. {flv}lhyst{/flv}

Just for orientation, the big main laparoscopic "sleeve", is in the belly button area at the top of your screen.  Sleeves are the ports through which the camera and instruments are passed. The smaller ones are down towards the right and left side and the surgeon then introduces another one just above the bladder area during the first part of the movie.

By the way, it is not just surgeons in France that know how to do this. It is now a fairly common operation and can be done for uterine cancer as well as benign conditions.  I just liked this movie and picked it for you to get a good idea of how this is done.
