| sarcoma | A cancer of supporting structures such as bone, muscle, cartilage and fat. Gynecologic sarcomas are unusual, but can affect any gyn organ. Most often it affects the uterus, although this is still relatively unusual. In some cases mixed elements of a malignancy are present in a uterus or ovary, involving both sarcoma and carcinoma. This is known as a Mixed Mullerian Tumor. Many of these sarcomas or mixed tumors can be very aggressive, even if caught early. |
